International Relief Center (IRC) was founded by Khambang Sibounheuang - a Laotian-American who escaped Communist Laos in 1975. Fulfilling his dream to return and help his people, the closest he can get is Cambodia. There are a million and a half Laotians there. The Cambodians have been very kind to them, treating them as their own.
The work of IRC is repaying the Cambodian people for their kindness, as well as helping the Laotians living among them. We are building schools, clinics, hospitals, digging wells and sending all-important medical support to the impoverished areas of Southeast Asia, with current efforts concentrating on Cambodia.
Cambodia is a fledgling democracy, struggling to rise from the horror and destruction of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. Instead of going to politicians, IRC’s money is going directly to local workers and businesses to enable them to build their own lives. They want to work and are very grateful for any help they get.
Khambang and the IRC team have traveled to Cambodia meeting with Governors, Ministry Officials, Doctors, Village Chiefs and the people themselves. The need is there. They have asked for help. Now, IRC asks for yours.
